Via Ferrata Diavolo in Andermatt
Next to your Accommodation in Andermatt is the famous Via Ferrata Diavolo built by the Swiss military. This is a vertical climbing route aided with steel steps and latter and secured by a steel cable. It was buil by the army training garrison located in Andermatt and is open for everybody at own your own risk. Please get proper gear, skills and knowledge for this nice adventure with superb views into the Devil Gorge at Schöllenen

- Vertical 450 Meter high Via Ferrata built by the mountaineers from swiss army for training purposes
- Prior via ferrata-experience is required!
- Equipment: Proper shoes and Via Ferrata Security-Set, Helmet, Gloves, Climbing Harness necessary!
- 700 Meter Steel cables lead the way and secure your safety.
- 185 Bolts attach the steelcable into the steep granite
- 350 Iron Steps bolted in the granite wal help where artificial climbing aids are needed.
- 2 latters in verical sections
- Time: 10min walking time from the Basecamp to the entrance at Suworow Memorial, 1 hour for climbing, 1 hour for decending back to the Basecamp Andermatt
- Check Weather prior! When its rainy, wet, snowy or posibily of thunder and lightnings. DONT GO!
Routedescription
Ascent:
Next to the Devils Bridge at the Suworov Memorial is the entrance. The cable is starting here. Follow the route on cable, steel steps and bolts. A vertical line up along a crack leads to the Tüfelstalboden at f 1888m height where a bench and the flag of Uri are waiting together with spectacular views donw into the Schöllenen Gorge!
Decent
After the Climb follow a natural trail towards Andermatt. At a sign you can choose to take the Nature trail with information about the vegetation and avalanche security in the valley to the right or take the road towards Nätschen Trainstatation to the left. The Nature Trail takes your throug dense forest on a marked hiking trail in steep windings straight back to your accommodation in Andermatt at Basecamp Andermatt.
