Gotthard Pass Opening 2013

The Gotthard pass " Eröffnung 2013 " is according to the information from local authorities expected to be the 23. of May 2013 at 10:00 am local time.

This opens up great new routes for bikers in Andermatt. The great tour around Gotthard-, Lukmanier- and Oberalp pass is now possible. Start out in front of your accommodation at www.basecamp-andermatt.com and finish here to enjoy a cool drink at our terrace.

We got new sunchairs for relaxing at our sunny terrace and around the lodge. There is enough room to enjoy the sun and up here above the village we get a fair bit longer days allready. Down in the village the sun drops sooner behind the mountains. You can enjoy the sun in front of your accommodation or fire up one of our Weber BBQs for some food and beer after freeriding! This is the real mountain lifestyle enjoy it with your friends.

Looks like a big low pressure system is coming from the Atlantik towards the Alps. This could be another 20-30cm dump in the next 24-72 hours. The conditions are already very good. Wind has done some work shifting the snow and creating the usual hazards. Get informed with locals how this affects Andermatt and its unique location just at the Alpine main ridge catching the wind and snow

Snow-Situation in Andermatt for Saison Opening 2012/2013

 Looks like it will another great winter for freeriders and mountaineers in the Swiss Alps. Andermatt has proven again to be one of the resorts of highest snowfall and best snowsecurity. We have now 2-3 meter at the top of Gemstock and over one meter in front of our lodge and hostel Basecamp Andermatt. This amount of snow already so early in Dezember is only the beginnig for a really great saison 2012/2013

New sunny terrace at the lodge

We have just finished our new big terrace just in time for the saison opening in Andermatt. It is facing south towards the Gemstock and has a great view over the whole valley. Here you can relax in the sun and enjoy your apres ski. This is lodging with a view! We will also provide the BBQs for you in front of the house. This will be a very sunny place in Andermatt, because it is located a little above the village and will get the last sunrays where the village itself lays in the shadow already.

 Saison opening in Andermatt for 2012/2012

The skiflifts opened this weekend for the first time. The Gurschen chairlift and gondola up to the midstation are operating this weekend. Get your skis out and give a try. The Andermatt Skilifts are planning to have the skisaison opened the 1.12.2012 on both Nätschen and the Gemstock area. 

After a good day in the mountains, its time to relax in front of our Lodge and Hostel. Not only do we provide affordable accommodation, but also a great setup to enjoy your stay in Andermatt. We have beanbags, an outdoor barbeque area on a little terrace and two Weber BBQs for you.. Enjoy the view over the valley, unwind with some good food and good stories...

Another bunch of great rides in the central Alps. Just hop on your bike in front of the hostel and you can choose a variety of different high alpine passes. This time we did Andermatt - Furka - Grimsel - Furka Andermatt and next day a mellow ride from Basecamp Andermatt to Disentis over the Oberalp pass. Had a Burger at the Nangiala Hostel and rode back.

Basecamp - Furka - Nufenen - Gotthard - Basecamp. Three great passes, view over the Rhone Glacier, the highest roadpass of the alps and up the legendary Tremola to finish with.
